💸Increased Fees Up a Bit @ Bell House Under Ticketmaster: When news that Ticketmaster quietly bought The Bell House broke in July, people wondered what would change. This week, online ticketing at Bell House flipped from Eventbrite to Ticketmaster and we have a first signal.
We keep these prices in a spreadsheet so we did a quick browse before and after: they suggest the fees are higher now. Slate’s “October Surprise” podcast this week, for instance, cost $35.45 with fees through Eventbrite, and this week it costs $37 with fees on Live Nation.
🌳Parks Department Announces ‘Great Trees Of New York City,’ Including The Weeping Willow On 6th Ave: “a Weeping Willow in the 6/15 Community Garden in Park Slope, represents the community’s effort to clean up an abandoned lot in the 80s and turn it into the now-beloved garden.” (Brooklyn Paper)
OPEN: Pickleball Destination in Gowanus: “PKLYN, located on Fourth Street between Hoyt and Bond streets, will have five courts across the 18,000-square-foot facility. Founder and Managing Partner David Friedman got the idea for PKLYN during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though a long-time player, he got most interested in pickleball when he found a community of players at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 and played the game daily with a regular group.” (PKYLN IG)

Thanks for the Halloween map, amazing!! One big event you missed is the Brooklyn Fashion Week show on 7th street between 4th and 5th (happening right now!) as a part of Brooklyn Japan festival, organized by the Brooklyn Beauty and Fashion Labo. It was an all day event. They always have new gallery openings and other cool events in their space. I’d recommend reaching out to them for upcoming events!
