Last week we told you how neighbors came together to support Root Hill Cafe after it was broken into. Hours after we hit SEND the storm hit, damaging storefronts and their stock across 4th Avenue and Gowanus. (Neighbors are already coming through again: Gowanus Gardens, for instance, hit its GoFundMe goal in a matter of days, but Haitian food shop Bonbon Lakay still has a ways to go. We will continue to share which fundraisers have hit their goal on Instagram.)
It was a tough weekend on the west side of our neighborhood. Think about dining/shopping in the area this weekend.
🆘Prospect Park Alliance is seeking donations. The rain and flood water caused major damage to the park as drainage systems were overwhelmed. Prospect Park Alliance has put our a call for gifts that it says will be put to immediate use to help restore the park.
🆘CHiPS needs food inventory. They are asking for donations and to make purchases off of their wishlists, so they can continue to provide meals for those in need.
