Stephan brought these recordings to Patti Smith, giving her new landscapes to channel her poetic vision. 16-Year-Old Fatally Struck By G Train While Walking on Tracks Near 4th Avenue-9th Street: “She was on the catwalk inside the tunnel before she was hit, law enforcement sources said. 📕An Evening With Rawlston Charles @ Central Library: “Soca music, the upbeat descendant of calypso, originated in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) turned 50 last year. Rawlston Charles, a T&T immigrant and long standing Brooklyn resident, is a pivotal figure in popularizing calypso and soca internationally, through his record shop Charlie’s Calypso City, record label Charlie’s Records and recording studio, which was also essential to the development of hip-hop earliest recordings.”(6:30 PM, Central Library)
🏳️⚧️Film: 'The Stroll' @ Brooklyn Musem: “Celebrate International Trans Day of Visibility by watching The Stroll and two short films by members of Black Trans Femmes in the Arts (BTFA). The Stroll (Kristen Lovell and Zackary Drucker, 2023, 84 min.) documents trans history in New York City’s Meatpacking District during the 1980s and ’90s. 🐥Easter Weekend School Holiday In Prospect Park: “Join Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.
Nature Around Us, 12 – 3 pm: Enjoy different seasonal discovery stations and nature themed activities that will introduce you to the plants, insects and animals that call the park home. The Lake and Lullwater are home to many plants and animals. Help us to test the water quality and investigate pond samples that are filled with living organisms.
Animal Encounter, 2 – 3 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm.
Wilderness Walk, 3 – 4 pm: Join the Prospect Park Alliance and learn about the Great Backyard Bird Count and search for your favorite “backyard bird”. Find woodpeckers, chickadees, and nuthatches eating from feeders along Prospect Park’s nature trails.”(12:00 PM, Prospect Park)
