🆘Support Winemak’Her Bar’s Post-Storm GoFundMe: Alexandra Charpentier, the owner of the 5th Avenue wine bar, was serving a drink Tuesday night when she saw her outdoor dining terrace take off. “Literally fly through the air and flip like a crepe,” Charpentier, who was born in Avignon, France, told us. She ran outside, snapped the shot of it upside-down in the middle of 5th Avenue above, and asked for help.
“We were so scared that a bike might come along,” Charpentier said. “So we pulled it out of the street with helped from neighbors and friends from Lullaby Baby and South Slope Eatery.”
With the debris was cleared, Charpentier decided to ask for more help. In the three years since she got her liquor license, her wine bar (which only pours bottles from women winemakers) has been hit hard by COVID and inflation. “This money will help me clean up the disaster area, pay off loans at 24% interest, and pay my wages and rent,” she wrote on the GoFundMe, which is as of thsi morning is just $2,500 short of its goal. “Every dollar counts, and I understand if you can't give, but if you could just share, it would be a big help.” (Winemak’Her’s GoFundMe)

The two Viennese composers’ works, Haydn’s Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo and Schubert’s Mass in G, differ from each other both musically -- one is from the middle of the Classical period and the other from the early Romantic -- and in the texts they chose to set. In addition, they have chosen different ways to keep the text of these masses, which are set shorter, one by using a mostly syllabic setting of the text and other by using ‘telescoping,’ which has different voices singing different texts simultaneously.” (3:00 PM, Old First Church, $20)
